Expensive Babe


Expensive Babe is one of  only four Handley Page Halifax to have achieved over 100  missions.

Of which only two are shown to have Nose Art - Expensive Babe and Friday the 13th.

Expensive Babe was a mark 3 Halifax - LV937.
 
Expensive Babe flew with two squadrons - 578 squadron from March to April 1944 (LK X and R) and 51 squadron from April 1944 as MH J, M and E - it was whilst as MH E that she was christened Expensive Babe.

The pilot shaking hands is Flt. Lt. Richard (Dick) Kemp DFC and Bar and the photograph was taken on return from her 100th mission to Osnabruck on the 6th December 1944.

She survived the war and was SOC on 18th May 1945.

Panel is priced at 185 GBP plus P&P.

The panel is an accurate scale reproduction of the full nose  (from Former 1 to 6) and is 75 cm long x 55 cm high.  It is made from 2 main pieces of aluminium sheet with several aluminium details added. Panels use flat head rivets and have perspex window panes - all as on the original Mk 3 aircraft
