Phantom of The Ruhr



Phantom Of The Ruhr (EE139) is a famous aircraft completing 121 missions. Phantom was assigned to 100 squadron where she was assigned HW A but in july that was changed to HW R. The phantoms first mission was in June the 11 1943. Towards the end of November C flight of 101 squadron became 550 squadron, Phantom was transferred to the new unit and re-coded BQ-B.
 
The Phantom missed D-Day due to night fighter damage from a raid 2/3 days earlier. She returned to operational status on the 17th June 1944. Phantoms last sortie was on November the 21st, 1944
        
With 121 missions to her name Phantom joined 1656 HCU. She was struck off charge on 19th February 1945.
 
From 2007 to 2012 the BBMF lancaster was repainted as the Phantom of the Ruhr.

It is made from 5 separate pieces of aluminium sheet.

The panel represents the aircraft between formers  B and G.
