L for Leader
L for Leader (AR-L) completed 44 missions with 460 squadron as Lancaster W5005 flying out of Binbrook in Lincolnshire. The ice cream cones show missions to Itally. She was transfered to 550 squadron and recoded as BQ-N but kept her nose art. With another 50 missions and well on the way to 100 the plane ditched in the Humber in Aug 1944 and was lost. The crew survived.
From 2017 the BBMF lancaster was repainted as L for Leader.
