Engine cowl

Section of a WW2 de Havilland Mosquito - from the Rolls Royce Merlin engine cowl
This section of Mosquito has been hand painted with Nose Art that was applied to an RCAF Mosquito in WW2.
We have hand painted the artwork to match the original that was painted on to the 409 Squadron aircraft as shown in the last image. The squadron flew de Havilland Mosquitos as nightfighters in WW2 which matches the artwork.
To the rear on the triangular section and one arm is the 98 part number that is specific to the de Havilland Mosquito. The part number sequence shows it is from an engine cowl.
The section still has remains of the quick release Dzus fasteners that were used.
The art work was originally painted by Joe Carpenter on the side of MM523 of 409 Squadron flown by the RCAF and used in the D.day landings. Image is from Nose Art book Metal Canvas.
We don't know what specific Merlin this part came from it was purchased with other Mosquito parts several years ago,

The panel measures 28 cm ( max) X 26 cm tall
